Key actions of 500 Years

Building awareness, energy, and excitement for the four stated issues above within key core groups:

• General public and media: building general interest, advocacy and legitimacy within the public’s mind
• Funding entities, grant givers, and the scientific investment community
• Governmental bodies, particularly policy makers and grant givers
• Science community and media

Networking and communication: Providing a platform for relevant scientists, investors, grantors, policy makers, entrepreneurs, and enthusiasts to get together, exchange ideas, collaborate, meet each other, and discuss these issues in a constructive environment.

Funding distribution: 500 Years will help groups of researchers and publishers find investment dollars, and may raise funds on their behalf or redistribute 500 Years collected funds.

500 Years will execute the following activities:

• Quarterly newsletter (then a full-featured popular journal): The newsletter should grow into a fully featured, popular magazine as the concept is validated (2-4 years)
  
• Publishing: of articles, books, and papers.
  
• PR and 3rd party publishing: publicity development and article placement in other media, such as popular science magazines and television shows.
  
• TV and Film Production: Creation and contribution to educational and entertainment TV and film productions, such as PBS documentaries. Networking:
  

Cyclical and regional events and conferences

• Online directories and networking forums
  
• Group conference calls
  
• Career assistance, job placement, scientific recruiting
  
• Participation in conferences and events
  
• Participation in research groups
  
• Introductions and peer-to-peer connections
  

Fundraising:

• 500 Years assumes that there are a healthy population of financiers, foundations and other grant makers who would be very interested in becoming part of history and seek to participate in these types of conversations
  
• Matching research and publishing groups with funding bodies
  
• 500 Years pooled fund. 500 Years will raise its own pool of capital (in addition to money for its own operational needs) for redistribution to projects it endorses.
